CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) has established five social emotional learning competencies important to academic and life success. Many states and districts have now developed standards, and there is a great deal of overlap between them. These checklists were compiled, edited, and streamlined using standards published by the following states: Texas, Alaska, Illinois, Tennessee, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Kansas.
